VANGUARDS - BMC Austin/Morris 1100/1300 Estate

I do like this model, My aunt and Uncle had one of these for a while, and I remember it well, and Vanguards have done this model proud, but they have missed a trick here, as this was one of the Badge engineered cars of that era, where BMC made versions of everything in each of its brand, the bread and butter cars were the Austin and Morris 1100/1300, but there was also a full list of other versions -

  • Austin 1100 and 1300
  • Austin America, Glider and Victoria
  • Innocenti IM3
  • MG 1100 and 1300
  • Morris 1100 and 1300
  • Riley 1300 and Kestrel
  • Vanden Plas Princess 1100 / 1275 / 1300
  • Wolseley 1100, 1275 and 1300

My all time favourite is the MK3 GT in Orange, why Vanguards has not tapped this rich history on the one model i do not know, but to convert it from Estate to saloon wouldn't be too hard, they have done the MG ZT and Rover 75, as well as the Mini and Clubman, so they can do versions, this should have been a no brainer, This one has the jewelled headlights and working suspension, it is a shame then that little details like the rear number plate and rear lights are poorly executed, but it is still a really nice scale model. that sites with the others.
